Material Profile
PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
Clear, strong, lightweight polyester widely used for bottles and jars, with high recyclability. Variations: PET, rPET, PETG/PCTA
About This Material
PET is a durable, transparent thermoplastic known for excellent clarity, impact resistance, and barrier performance against moisture and oxygen. rPET is recycled PET reprocessed into new packaging. PETG/PCTA are glycol‑modified variants offering improved toughness, chemical resistance, and ease of processing for thicker or more complex shapes.
Recycle profile:
- PET: Widely recyclable (#1)
- rPET: Same stream as PET
- PETG/PCTA: Sometimes incompatible with PET streams; check local guidelines
Common uses: Beverage bottles, cosmetic bottles, jars, thermoforms, blister packs.
Notes: rPET availability depends on regional recycling infrastructure; PETG clarity is excellent but can contaminate PET recycling.
Ideal Applications
Main body and element construction material.

Sustainability Notes
Sustainability score: High for PET/rPET; Moderate for PETG/PCTA.
